Every now and then a trip report comes along that does more than list species. It captures the rhythm of migration, the character of a landscape and the people who make birding in a region possible. The November 2025 Azerbaijan report by Chris Mills and Oscar Campbell is exactly that kind of contribution.
Their week along the Caspian coast from 1 to 9 November is more than a record of impressive totals. It is a thoughtful and genuinely inspiring account of what makes the Besh Barmag corridor one of the most electrifying birding areas in the Western Palearctic.

Chris and Oscar describe each day with the precision of experienced observers and the curiosity of people who still find joy in every flock on the horizon. Their ability to blend numbers, behaviour and atmosphere creates a narrative that any birder will want to follow from beginning to end.
As the Birding Azerbaijan team, we were delighted to support them in organising this trip. If you would like to visit Azerbaijan and experience these landscapes for yourself, feel free to reach out to us.
